mODULE 1

What is/are Colonization(s) and Decolonization(s)?

OBJECTIVE
This module aims to give an introductory overview of colonization, and decolonization in Canada. The differences between Canadian colonization and European colonization will be discussed.

OUTCOME
Students will have a clear understanding of what colonization and decolonization is, how colonization continues to impact lives and the world nowadays and what we can do as agents of change to counteract its effects.
mODULE 2

Indigenous History and Rights

OBJECTIVE
Indigenous history is seldom taught through the indigenous perspective. This module aims to outline the brief history of pre-contact North America, first contact with Europeans, and how colonial oppression manifests itself in the Canadian context today.

OUTCOME
This session will expose students to the non-European perspectives of Indigenous history.
mODULE 3

Guest Indigenous Speaker

OBJECTIVE
First exposition with an Indigenous speaker. This module aims to deliver first-hand Indigenous experiences, richness of the culture, and the effect of colonization in their daily lives.

OUTCOME
This module will foster knowledge exchanges and community engaged learning that ruptures the traditional passive classroom learning structures.
mODULE 4

Introduction to Effective Altruism: Why Authenticity is Important in Project Development?

OBJECTIVE
This module serves as an introduction to the project development stage of the project and incentivizes the students to critically evaluate the socio-economic impacts of capitalistic and colonialist systems in business and other fields; how to transition out of this with a decolonized attitude.

OUTCOME
This module will provide students with the necessary knowledge for the students to understand how colonialism is deeply ingrained in business/society and start thinking about their initial project ideas in a decolonized approach.
mODULE 5

Research 101: Interactive Workshop on Efficient Market Research

OBJECTIVE
This module is a brief research workshop that provides an introductory overview of conducting primary and secondary research with the aim of investigating a specific topic in the social justice realm or more.

OUTCOME
This module will guide students through the right approach to research any topic with the help of some guidelines. Students will then apply these strategies to research their topic of interest.
mODULE 6

Tools for Effective Project Management: BMC Workshop

OBJECTIVE
This module is a brief strategic workshop that provides an introductory overview of what Bridges Module Canvas is and how one can use it to identify what direction their project should take to stay authentic and achieve positive social impact.

OUTCOME
This module will help students visualize the building blocks of their project idea with the help of some guidelines. Students will then apply these strategies to identify the specific functions of their project and fill-out a BMC.
mODULE 7

Tying It All Together: Interactive Workshop on Project Proposal Design

OBJECTIVE
This module aims to get students to think about their final community projects. In this session, students will brainstorm, outline and design their project whilst interacting with us and their peers.

OUTCOME
In this module, students will start creating and designing their final projects while interacting with one another, and Building Bridges staff. This module aims to foster the creativity of students in social justice issues.
MODULE 8-11

Project Development Sessions

OBJECTIVE
The 4 project development sessions will aim to guide the students to finalize, organize and start conducting their community projects. Each sessions, students will meet with the Building Bridges team and their peers to work on developing their projects.

OUTCOME
Students will be exposed to a creative environment where they apply their learnings from Stage 1 and 2 to their community initiatives.
By session 3, we expect students to start establishing their projects even in small scales.
